Dry cleaners and laundries

Dry cleaning: two trips per order, one stamp.

Updated

Nicolas drops off five shirts Monday at 8 and picks them up Wednesday evening. Two trips to the counter, one order. The card is stamped when he pays, counts his pieces the way you bill them, and his twenty-shirt package comes off in the same place.

Should a dry cleaner stamp the card at drop-off or at pickup?

When the customer pays, and only once. An order brings the customer to your counter twice, and a card scanned both times earns two stamps for one ticket: the setting that blocks a second scan reaches half a day at most, not Wednesday. StampyWallet then counts the way you charge (per piece, per $10 or a point per dollar) and puts the shirt package in the same wallet as the card. As of October 22, 2026, the card costs $29 a month before tax in the US (Essential; €20 excl. VAT in Europe); packages and seasonal scheduled messages are in Growth, $49 (€40). If your POS already runs loyalty on drop-off tickets, check first whether it's enough.

One stamp per order is the rule that tells the whole team when to scan: at drop-off if customers pay as they drop off, at pickup if they pay on the way out. StampyWallet stamps from your phone, and a setting guards against scans made too close together.

Drop-off and pickup

Stamp when he pays, not every time he walks in.

Pick the moment once and tell the team: at drop-off if customers pay as they drop off, at pickup if they pay when they collect. The « Two visits from the same customer » setting blocks a second scan in quick succession, up to half a day; it can't tell that a pickup two days later belongs to the same order.

Same-day expressIn at 8, out at 5: with « One every half-day », the second scan is refused and the screen says so. That's the setting for cleaners who do same-day.

A mistake can be undoneStaff who stamped twice undo their own stamp for five minutes from the screen after the scan. The owner or a manager can undo the last action any time.

The card isn't the ticketIt doesn't track pieces or order status, and it doesn't text anyone that their shirts are ready: keep your ticket and your POS for that.

Per piece, per ticket or per dollar

Five shirts, a comforter, a suit: three ways to count.

The same card can count three different things, depending on what you want to reward: the number of pieces, keyed in before you scan; a spend bracket, « $10 = 1 stamp »; or a point per dollar. Here are four typical tickets, counted by the app's own engine.

Example prices. Stamps by bracket round down, with nothing carried over: $20 earns two.
The ticketAmountPer piece1 stamp per $101 point per $
A commuter's week: 5 shirts$205220
A down jacket$221222
A queen comforter$351335
A suit and three shirts$484448

Per piece, if your customers are shirtsA stamp per shirt, five in one scan, and the 10th shirt free: the Monday commuter gets there in two weeks. Easy to say at the counter, but a comforter counts the same as a shirt.

Per bracket, if tickets vary« $10 = 1 stamp » rewards the comforter and the suit without changing the gesture. Under $10, no stamp, and the screen says so before the scan.

Per dollar, to price rewards exactlyA point per dollar and two tiers, a free shirt at 80 points and a coat at 250: you know exactly what each reward costs you.

The commuter's package

Twenty shirts paid ahead, taken off at drop-off.

Your best customers bring five shirts a week and don't want to pay every time. Ring up the package on your register, create it in two taps: it goes to their wallet next to the card, and at every drop-off they see what's left. With Growth.

  • One shirt per tap: five shirts dropped off, five taps, with the history on screen. A mistake can be undone for 24 hours.
  • With one shirt left, the wallet tells them and invites them to renew at the counter.
  • Valid one, two, three, six or twelve months, or with no limit. A week before it ends, the wallet reminds them.

The seasons

Down jackets in April, comforters in May.

Your year comes in waves, and customers forget them. Write each season's message on a quiet evening and schedule it up to two months ahead: it lands on the lock screen of everyone with your card on the morning you chose.

Questions

What dry cleaners ask us.

Do I stamp at drop-off or at pickup?

When the customer pays, once per order. If they pay at drop-off, stamp then and don't scan at pickup; if they pay at pickup, the other way round. What matters is that the whole team does the same.

Does a card scanned at drop-off and again at pickup earn two stamps?

Yes, if the two scans are further apart than your « Two visits from the same customer » setting, which goes up to half a day. For a Monday drop-off and a Wednesday pickup, only the one-moment rule prevents it. An extra stamp can be undone: by staff for five minutes, by the owner any time.

One stamp per shirt or one per ticket?

Per shirt if your customers mostly bring shirts: key in the number of pieces before scanning. Per $10 bracket or a point per dollar if tickets run from a shirt to a comforter: the reward follows what they spend.

Does the package come off piece by piece?

Yes, one shirt per tap: five shirts, five taps. It happens at drop-off, when you count the pieces. An extra tap can be undone for 24 hours.

What about business accounts, like a restaurant and its linens?

Sell them a package in the business's name, « 30 tablecloths » for instance: whoever brings in the linens, you find the package under that name in your list of sold packages and take the pieces off. StampyWallet doesn't issue invoices: your POS does.

A customer walks past every morning: can the card remind them?

Their phone may offer it. Your address places the store on the card, and you can check or move the pin in Settings. On iPhone, if the customer kept « Suggest on Lock Screen » on, the card can appear when they are nearby; on Android, if they turned on notifications and precise location for Google Wallet. The phone decides, and the card doesn't know whether their order is ready.

Your store's card, set up for your tickets.

Choose what counts (the piece, the bracket or the dollar), when to stamp, and print the counter poster. The next customer adds it while you look for their garment bags.
