Shoe repair and key cutting

Shoe repair: from keys to resoles, one card.

Updated

Your key-copy customer doesn't always know you also fix heels, bags and belts. The card in their Wallet reminds them, counts what they spend with you, and doesn't vanish into a junk drawer between visits months apart.

Does a loyalty card make sense for a shoe repair shop?

Yes, if it counts dollars and it's patient: people visit a cobbler two or three times a year, for a key that costs a few dollars or a resole that costs ten times more. As of October 22, 2026, StampyWallet puts your shop's card in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet with no app, from €20 excl. VAT a month in Europe ($29 in the US) with 30 days free: one point per dollar typed at the scan, shortcuts for your everyday jobs, and a win-back tuned to a rhythm of several months. If your customers only ever come in for keys, a paper punch card may be enough.

StampyWallet is a digital loyalty card for independent tradespeople and shops. In a shoe repair shop, the customer adds it to their phone by scanning the counter QR code; you scan it when they pay, the amount turns into points, and the card keeps its balance from one visit to the next, even six months later.

By amountAn $8 key and an $80 resole don't weigh the same: the card counts dollars.

4 shortcutsyour usual prices, right on the scan screen: one tap and it's counted (up to six).

Monthsbetween visits lose nothing: the balance lives on the phone, not in a wallet pocket.

What to give

What reward works for a cobbler's customers?

Something cheap for the shop that shows right away: a key copy, a shine, a pair of sole protectors. Skip a free resole as a first reward; it takes too many points to ever reach. Three setups to try.

One point per dollar

A key copy at 50 points, new heels at 120. The customer who gets boots resoled jumps ahead; the key customer moves too, just slower.

A shine at visit 3, sole protectors at 6

Two tiers close together for customers who come rarely: the first reward lands within the year, not in three.

8th visit, a free key

One stamp per visit, whatever they buy. The easiest to read at the counter, for a shop where keys are most of the traffic.

Name the free key (“one standard house key”): security keys and car fobs don't cost the same.

At the counter

Scan while the machine cuts the key.

For a key or quick heels, the customer is waiting right there: the moment to have them add the card. For a resole, the scan happens at pickup, when they pay.

  1. Cuir & Clés loyalty card in the Wallet, 5 of 8 stamps, ready to be scanned

1They hold up their phoneThe Cuir & Clés card is in their Wallet; you aim at the code with yours.

  2. 2You confirmFirst name and count appear, with the reward once it's reached. Nothing goes through without your tap.

  3. The same card after the scan: 6 of 8 stamps

3They see it right awayThe new count arrives as a notification on their lock screen.

Hands full of glueNo need to aim: “Find a customer” pulls them up by name, number or email.

No signal in the backBehind thick walls, the stamp waits on the phone and goes through once the connection is back.

Wrong amountA scan that went wrong can be undone from the same screen, no phone call needed.

The workbench

Your usual prices, one tap from the scan.

In points mode, you choose the value before aiming: type the ticket total, or tap one of your shortcuts. You set them when customizing the card; here are four sample values to swap for your own prices.

  • 8a standard key copy
  • 20quick heel replacement
  • 40sole protectors, or a security key
  • 80a full leather resole

The amount, when nothing fitsA resole plus a bag re-dye: type $64, the card adds 64 points.

Up to six shortcutsComma-separated in settings; keep the ones you type ten times a day.

The value resetsAfter each scan, the amount clears: the next customer doesn't get the previous resole's points.

A cobbler's rhythm

Three visits a year, a win-back at the right time.

The app's default delay doesn't fit a shop where people return every four months. Set it to 90 days: once a customer has enough visits, their own rhythm takes over, and the win-back goes out when their absence passes one and a half times that rhythm, at the latest at twice the delay you chose. On the Growth plan.

Your words, not oursYou write the win-back message in settings: talk about heels, keys or whatever you like.

Closed Mondays?Closing days and the time off you declare don't count toward a customer's absence.

Points stay putNothing expires, unless you set a validity period for rewards in the program rules.

Shop questions

What cobblers ask us.

Stamps or points for shoe repair?

Points, usually: between a key and a resole the price gap is too wide for a stamp to mean the same thing. If customers mostly come for keys, one stamp per visit is easier to explain.

Can I let a customer know their shoes are ready?

Not with the card. StampyWallet sends messages to all your customers, or to groups (regulars, long absent, close to a reward), but not a one-to-one “your pair is ready” notice. Keep your claim ticket and your phone for that.

Do car keys and fobs count?

Like any job: in points mode, the amount sets the count. An expensive fob copy moves the card forward accordingly; pick a reward that stays reasonable next to those big tickets.

A customer comes back once a year: is their card still there?

Yes. It stays in their Wallet with its balance, and your messages keep reaching them. Only rewards can expire, and only if you decide so.

What if I also sell shoe care and insoles?

They count like everything else, by ticket amount. An early-winter message about waterproofing spray reaches everyone with your card, on Essential.

How much is the card for a shoe repair shop?

As of October 2026: Essential at €20 a month excl. VAT in Europe ($29 before tax in the US), with the card, scanning, your team, the dashboard and messages to everyone. Growth at €40 ($49) adds automatic win-backs, scheduled messages, gift cards, prepaid packages and Google review requests. One month free, no commitment.

Can my apprentice scan?

Yes. Invite them from the Team screen: they scan with their own phone, and team tracking shows what each person added. There's no limit on the number of people.
